Unlike other deadly creatures, the Mantigrue Screecher is not known for being a creature of an intimidating size. Within the mantigrue family, the Screecher is actually the smallest, in comparison to the Night Stalker, Hunter, and Reaper.
The Mantigrue Screecher's name has two origins:
The first, comes from the horrible sounds the Screecher uses to communicate. Early settlers on Endor were often mistaken, thinking these sounds came from people crying out for help. When scientists classified the Mantigrue family, the only thing they could comment about this one, was the terrible \"screeching sound it made.\"
The second origin of the name, is somewhat similar to the first. The Mantigrue Screecher is able to release spores from glands underneath it's wings when it feels it or it's lair are being threatened. It will then beat it's wings rapidly, to spread the spores into the air, where they are then breathed in by anything nearby. These spores latch onto mucus membranes in a person's lungs, causing difficulty in breathing. If untreated, this condition can cause complete deterioration of the lungs, killing a person quite painfully. People would comment that this creature not only makes it's name by the screeching sound it makes, but also the screams of its unfortunate victims...
