First off I'd just like to thank everyone that has a hand in keeping this site great! the guides and info elsewhere (not to mention the \"manual\") is hopeless.
Having read through a bunch of guides, looked at numerous questions that are all very nearly about what I wanted to ask and asked lots of MCH ingame without actually getting a definitive answer I thought I'd try here. Something I read here by Lantyssa seemed to answer my question but I want to be sure. So.. here goes.
[b:e7d087c076]1)[/b:e7d087c076] I can never tame a creature that has a higher CL (max) than my current max nr of pet levels, correct? [/color:e7d087c076]
For example i couldnt tame a CL 34 non-vicious baby with 3-2-2-2 CH since then I'd only have max pet levels 31. And by this I mean actually taming them.. not trying to call them from my datapad when grown to full CL 34.
[b:e7d087c076]2)[/b:e7d087c076] I also need Taming vicious / Taming wild creatures skill that corresponds with the CL (max) of the creature, correct? plus the number 13 that I read somewhere you're supposed to add to your total.(Taming vicious creatures skill obviously corresponding with Vicious creatures) [/color:e7d087c076]
For example a character with 0-0-0-2 (max pet level 16, taming wild creatures 15) would be able to tame a level 16 creature thanks to the 13 (magic number eh? ;) ) extra points.
[b:e7d087c076]3)[/b:e7d087c076] A character with 2-2-4-4 (max pet level 44, taming vicious creatures 10) couldn't tame a CL 30 vicious because his 10 skill points + the magic 13 wouldn't be enough. Is that correct?
[/color:e7d087c076]
[b:e7d087c076]4)[/b:e7d087c076] Also, in the last example above, a wookiee character with the same skill progression could in fact tame the creature since his innate abilities give him 10 extra points in the skill. 10 for his skill progression + magic 13 + innate wookiee 10 = 33. 33 > 30 so that makes it doable but hard.[/color:e7d087c076]
Have I understood this correctly? If I have expressed myself unclearly I'll be happy to try to explain more carefully.
Thanks in advance for any answers

Good job.
The magic +13 might be from my posts. It is a best guess based on what master creature handlers can tame. (I'm not willing to surrender skills to test this. )
The one thing you did not mention was Taming clothing. You can have up to a +25 bonus to Taming Wild and, more importantly, Vicious creatures. This bonus will work even if you do not have Taming 2 yet. Short of doing the Taming line last, it will more than likely let you tame anything up to your max CL.
Even as a master, the ease of taming creatures is very noticable.

Great. Finally :)
That explains why I wasnt able to tame that famba. I am a wookiee and have a +25/+25 piece of clothing so I couldn't figure out why it didnt work. I always thought max pet level was relevant only as to what creature you could call as I assumed the baby was level 1.
Thanks for the quick answers. I'm off to find a suitable target for my next taming session. I think I'll try out Rori. Cheers

[quote:da89aebc01=\"Juicer\"]whats magic +13?[/quote:da89aebc01]
A master creature handler has a max pet CL of 70.
Their Tame Vicious modifier is +50.
A non-Wookiee handler can only tame aggressive creatures up to CL 63.
Wookiees with a +10 Tame bonus can tame anything up to the CL 70 cap.
Non-handlers have to wear Taming Clothes to boost that soft cap of 63 higher.
Since the CL 63 is based on the Tame Vicious modifier of +50, there is a difference of 13. From anedoctal evidence, the difference between the soft cap and the Tame Vicious modifier is around 13 regardless of skill.
