Ferocity

Can anyone tell me what good ferocity is? It seems that people want a pet with higher ferocity. If the stats are the same, what does ferocity add to the mix?

Ferocity, I believe, is the pets ability to stand it's ground. A pet with a lower ferocity will tend to run when it's HAM gets too low.
