I used two level 16 tusk cats and attacked Pickets. You get about 500 creature xp per kill. If your pets are too strong, your creature xp goes down.

I have a Kimogila that has almost the same specs as a cat of mine. Level 68 for the gila and 63 for the cat. Both are BE of course. The cat kicks butt but the Kimogila gets beaten up.
