Put your Shellfish harvesting tool in an empty toolbar slot. Then when you're fishing just hit the button it's on and it'll gather while you decide to tug left or right. Oh my, Domain! The fishing system does suck. The only thing that makes it semi worthwhile is that I can harvest mollusk and worthless crustaceans at the same time.

And Bio-Engineers use it to make some chef additives and the creature taming bonus tissues.

Yeah, it depletes the other resources. My guess is it's supposed to show up as an option on the radial menu under harvest resources but it doesn't yet. Still, I'd gladly trade the meat for milk any day. :)
