Cave listing

Postby ynks18 » Thu Mar 25, 2004 6:36 pm

With all this talk about boss monsters from caves, I would like to know where all these great caves are, and where I can find out the WPs for them! One of my characters is master CH and master pistoleer, and I wanna see how I can do! I mostly do NPC caves, but they're too easy most of the time...

So plz, if you have a WP on a good cave, post it here along with whatever creatures and boss are there!

Thanks!

I beleive that boss monsters spawn from lairs, not caves. As you are destroying a lair, a boss monster will spawn just before it is destroyed. I think it is random as well. Can someone else confirm?

Yes it is confirmed, these \"boss\" creatures are randomly spawned from lairs that are attacked. Through my experience this happens very rarely, but this could depend on the difficulty of the lair. I've so far seen boss monsters from sharnaff and vrelt lairs (both on Corellia).

I've only seen a Diseased Vrelt Matriarch from a lair. Boss monsters are in caves as well though. Their is a fynock cave on Talus (listed in the POI's tab of the datapad) that has a Giant Fynock at the very bottom. Unfortunately, he only gave 1 unit of avian meat. I'm sure there are boss monsters in the other creature caves as well. I know there's a narglatch cave on Naboo and I've heard talk of a Borgle Bat cave (but mostly just as a good spot to camp for skill attachments).

I think you guys are talking about 2 different things in terms of \"boss monsters\". The cave monsters you're asking about are things like the Acklay that spawns in the lowest room on the Geonosian Caves on Yavin IV. This spawns only once every 30 mins I think and you have to 'do the mission' for the cave in order to get there. The loot is good tho.
The boss creatures on lairs are far more common. I did a load of hunting on Endor and you frequently get Arachne Queen's spawning from lairs. Nice XP

I was beating a kreetle nest into the ground a week ago with my TKA-in-training and right before it died an overkreetle and about 25 kreetles popped out. Needless to say, I was owned.

The caves that specialize in one specific creature use the same format. When you enter (top level) you fight the easiest creatures and as you progress downward the creatures become tougher. Usually at the lowest level of a cave is one monster who is unique and a bit tougher than all the others. This monster is often referred to as a 'boss'.

For example, in the narglatch caves, when you reach the bottom, you will find a room with the one and only 'narglatch matriarch' in the cave. She might con yellow while everything else was conning white.

Most of these caves are listed on your datapad's POI section. If you read the description of each POI, you can see which of them are creature caves. Not all of the creature caves are listed on the POI however, and some have to be found either by happening upon them, being told/shown by a friend, or by happening upon some mention of it on a forum such as this. To my knowledge, there is no comprehensive guide to all of the creature caves in SWG (But hopefully somebody will prove me wrong LOL)

If you want a real challenge, there is a rancor cave on Dathomir (entrance is at -4232 -2079, closest starport is Science Outpost). The entrance is guarded by an ancient enraged bull rancor (or something equally scary sounding) and the top level has the typical rancors that you would find in lairs. I never got very far into the cave, so I don't know what lurks at the bottom.
One tame at a time :)

Another report of the Rancor Cave, eh? I may just have to check this out since it sounds quite interesting.

The Bark Mite Cave on Rori is pretty decent for mid-level fighters. Closest to Restuss.
