Uploading pictures

Postby KristArmain » Sat Jun 19, 2004 9:28 am

Theoretically I uploaded 2 pictures yesterday but I didn't get any message to let me know if it was successful or not, is there anyway to tell if it even was uploaded? And how long until it's actually displayed after it's uploaded?

If the pictures are not 200x200 (or close) and definately above 20kb in size, we will decline them. We have had several recent ones that were a full-sized screenshot.

So make sure your picture is cropped and the appropriate size or it will be declined.

If you are submitting a picture to replace another (we only keep one), try to make it more visually attractive. If all else is equal, a natural shot is probably going to be chosen over a picture of the datapad.

If the upload works, you should be taken to a screen that says in green \"File uploaded successfully!\" (or close) with the upload dialog box underneath. (Maybe we can convience Juntao to forward it back to the main page instead.) If it is the first picture submitted, there will be a text marker in the picture box that lets you know it is awaiting verification. It will be displayed once myself or Juntao accepts it.

Alright I was planning on doing some photography, the problem is my video card blows, so it's not going to be the most refined pictures out there, however they are decent, and I sharpen them in Macromedia Fireworks. I also cropped them to 200x200, and I made sure they were under 20k, one was 19.5k and the other was 7.46kb. Neither was uploaded properly. I'll try again with IE and see if it works better. Basically the goal I had was to try to make the pictures more environmental and clean up night time pictures because they tend to be very non descriptive. So I've been trying to find the creatures that you don't have pictures for and the ones that had only night pictures or exam pictures, and then replace them if possible. I got a picture of a purbole hunter, and a non exam picture of a shear mite, and put them up, but yeah it didn't load. I think exam pictures aren't nearly as good as environmental pictures, so if possible I'd like to try to find all those too. And I'm pretty big on photography and a ranger on Chimaera so I figure I can help you guys out heh. Now I just need to get over the upload barrier :P

Got them.

Mozilla has a few issues, too, such as with the sightings. :(

Yeah the sightings don't work right with Opera either. It's possible that some of the PHP code being used is from a newer version than Opera and Mozilla implement, IE will jump on anything to give them an edge, whereas the other two will wait for the W3C to approve something before allowing it.
