I notice that a lot of folks love to have the Mereks Deathhead but when one time hunting with a group we came across the Mereks Battlelord and that just seemed to be one kick butt critter that would rock as a pet. Has someone tamed both and can you post up what you thought was the pro's/con's of one versus the other?
thx!

The Mereks Battlelord sounds like a lair boss. If this is the case, they don't have babies.

She probably meant Toxic Merek Battlelord which does have babies. IMO, Toxic Merek Battlelord is a nice pet with good overall resistances except for Energy.
Merek Death's Head, on the other hand, is a high damage dealer with minimal resisntances. It seems to be that MDH is the highest damage dealing pet that is tamable.
As for which one makes a better pet, I really am not sure... I think I would just make a pet with TMB resistances with MDH damage :P

I did..so sorry for the confusion. hehe not quite accurate on names yet. So from what you are saying Nytar I would probably want the Toxic Merek Battlelord more for pvp and the Merek Death's Head for regular PvE battles.
thx for the help :D

I would still get TMB for PvE for its kinetic resistance. I cannot comment on PvP as I do not do much PvP. But I have heard many people saying that TMB is a great PvP pet.
If you are a melee type who can deal good damage yourself, I would consider MDH as your PvE pet. Once you take on aggro yourself, you can command MDH to attack and hope your mob doesn't attack MDH. Too bad MDH doesn't have a ranged attack. If it did, it will have a less chance of getting attacked.
Most of CHs deal damage themselves with ranged weapon and use pets as tanks. So what you want is a pet with high kinetic resistance, light armor and intimidation as one of their specials. This pet would last for a long time in combat and it doesn't require alot of healing. In the wild, there aren't many creatures with the above requirement, but gurrecks seems to be the closest to what I would use for PvE. Of course, you can always use BE pets if you want to go that way.
Hope this helps.

The toxic merek battlelord babies are a lot more common than the merek deathheads. I still haven't spawned a MDH baby :(
I use a TMB sometimes, but frankly, I'm not all that impressed with mereks. As I find gurrecks, I'm releasing my mereks to make room for the cats.

Death Heads are popular because they are a rare tame, not because they are all that useful.
Battlelords and Delirious Merek Avengers are both very good natural tames.
