As far as i know, the krayts only spawn in the graveyard area, which is the entire length from the POI wp down to the 'cul-de-sac' surrounded by canyon walls. Krayts don't seem to spawn frequently. It's rare to just happen upon one.
You can do the quest for the scythe schematic. It is 3 easy delivery/collect/intercept type runs out of Mos Entha (I think) and you get a map that takes you to the krayt graveyard. Activate the map and a chest appears with the schematic, along with an adult krayt dragon.
The schematic is very valuable, so talk to your local weaponsmith about it :)

Hello DargonSlayers,
the krayts spawn randomly .... on a spot normally 3 of them one after another, means when u fought one down and need a rest head 200 or 300 metres away to not gettin agroed. The best place to find them is the POI Krayt graveyard from the entrance of the yard and on the half way through the canyon, as long as there are krayt bones to find on the ground. also u can often be lucky to find them out of the canyon in a circle of around 1000 metres from E to S of the POI. On Farstar server there are player cities in this area but a spawn is possible there too. i never had a look on juveniles the spawns seem to be most canyon krayt dragons, much rarer the ancient krayt wots the most biggest mob in our galaxy.... hard to kill, areacombo knocks u down every minute even with anti KD food ( such a pet would be a real nice one for CH 8) ).
if u do the scythe quest and found the treasury box a canyon krayt spawns but no need to kill it - only for fun, coz its a quest mob it never drops anythin. if u deceide to do the quest and dont wanna kill the dragon, no need for a guard, only use compo armor and dont store ur bike...
good luck for finding a krayt and prepare for a hard fight :)

Good advice, but be warned... krayts are one of those mobs who will attack your bike if it's within range. Gonna be tough to get away on a disabled speeder. An alternative might be burst run up the cliff wall. Your terrain negotiation skills should take you safely out of harm's way. :)
