Combat prof thought

Postby Cyclone » Mon Feb 07, 2005 11:08 am

Ok, guys, I'm thinking of droping TK for another profession. Which one should I take. And can you make pros and cons for each prof in your own opinion? That would make my desicion easier. And no BHs or Smugglers or Commandos! Don't have the SP for them.

When I was making an alt, I wondered what profession goes well with CH myself. I asked here and Xanth suggested I test it myself on Test Center. I did and it was fun. The following link is the thread.

I only tested TK, Fencer and a bit of Pike. My conclusion was that TK was more effective than Fencer in PvE.

My template is TKM/MCH with 3-0-0-0 fencer and 2-0-0-0 medic and it works pretty well.

It's nice when you can get on test center when the blue frogs are up and test each profession out...IMHO they should always be there... :D

I was going for a TKM/CH template and realized it just wasn't what I wanted. Basically there are 2 ways of fighting as a CH. As a TKM, you can tank for your pets...here it's best to have pets with the good specials like poison spray and such. As a ranged fighter, it's best to have the tank (light armor, 10k+ ham) pets and then kite the enemy with your rifle/carbine/pistol. My experience is that Rifle is the better of the three. If you don't want TK, but want to stick to a melee profession, swords are a good altnerative. I'm rebuilding up my MCH on Kauri with Swordsman.

I will miss Master Brawler. Warcry 2 and lunge 2 (which work at about 18m away- very useful) were GREAT!!! And I think that lunge 2 is a bit more powerful than Knockdown 2. I knocked down almost every high end mob with it, including the Observer (ended up dead cause of bleeding). I'll try swordsman. Pikeman is good cause of AoE knockdown, but pikes aren't for me.
