Yes Mask Scent is still working, I just think that we are coming across higher level creatures now which then increases the chance of it failing.

Querky yes but as always when taming high level creatures, the slower you move the better.
Get within a reasonable distance to the group (or kill the group and do it single) Go prone and crawl up, this has a very high chance of success.
I crawled through scads of 60+ groups this way in the past few days.

I was after Arachne's and the like so I had ample time to experiment.
Without fail I would mask and get near the area on my bike, I would jump off and use shift/ forward to walk near then within 60m or so drop prone.
I was able to crawl through several kinds of mobs this way, IF you stand and run with most they insta-sniff you out and the battle is on.
It made no difference if I had my maskk clothes on or my taming clothes.
If you crawl away with your prize, from my experience you are fine.
