So, why do Rancors and Grauls suck now?

Postby Cyphaze » Tue May 10, 2005 4:23 pm

I'm a former MCH thinking about coming back to SWG to try out the CU... I've been checking this site again to see if CHs were balanced yet.

I hear that regen rates are way up. Fantastic, the high downtime was really annoying pre-CU.

But I checked the stats for Rancors and Grauls/Maulers--they're absolutely terrible now! The Graul especially, they lowered its stats and upped its level--what the hell?

Virtually every other creature in the ~50 bracket is better than them now. I thought the idea was to BUFF the Rancor to let it live up to its movie legend, not nerf it.

What's the deal? (Or am I just way, way off track and are they actually good in game?)

Deleted my rancor and kept my swamp stalker...

Rancor's are \"supposed\" to be the feared animal in Star Wars....

I cried when I looked at the stats of my Mantigrue Screetcher, gotta keep him after all the time I spent camping.

My BE animals are slowly being deleted one by one as well.

[quote:8ded257361=\"Ryca\"]Is the creature database hier on SWGCreatures up-to-date already? I'm not sure if I can rely on the data I find, like that the Mantigrue is Lv55 with dam 450-550 - which stats has yours now?[/quote:8ded257361]

It won't be up to date until SOE stops fiddling with creature levels like Juntao said. Right now, they still seem to play around with creature levels and there is no point in updating everything yet.

Once CU is done, we all have to go out and get stats and update the site as a community effort.

Agreed Nytar, I could post his \"current\" stats but i may be a liar in 3 days...

Incidentally I tamed a \"Mature Reptilian Flyer\" last night.
Doing a side by side comparison with its parents i figured I'd do ok taming a level 61 creature.

At 5 attempts and 2 sprints away i was about to give up, I tucked my lil girl into bed and went back to trying to tame this once innocuous creature.

On try 7 I tamed it and went back to base after trading in my hard earned combat xp for a pittance of force XP...

I popped over to Theed on Naboo and went to my corner to let the lil guy out to play (where are our pets kept while in stasis??)

I checked his stats and about choked... His CL is 69 not 61, I was elated that I tamed my highest pet level yet.

I asked a jedi knight to force run so I could test his speed since I know they can keep up with a swoop. He was able to pace the jedi easily, so now we wait till I get brave enough to try and track a jedi.

They won't be able to outrun this tracking droid :P

Yes \"mature\" and \"young\" are both level 69 at the moment. I tamed 4 \"young\" ones so far.

I thought these would be kickass pets to have as they could keep up with my swoop. Now I am not so sure about that as I tried to drag it around while I am on swoop to test it. It did not keep up... I will have to do more testing of course.

I have seen a couple of level 70 creatures on Dath. One was Kinad Baz Nitch (there are bunch of lairs around the village) and the other being some variant of Sheer mite (forgot which but NOT lurking, its level 69). I tamed Kinad Baz Nitch for my tanking purposes in a closed area (it annoys eveyone to use big pets in DWB). Its a nice small and round package I would say.

Examine it. You should see the race on the top of the examine window... Or somewhere in it :?

[quote:a81ef80d00=\"Yoni\"]I agree!

All our pets are useless now when the CU is here.
A gurreck i have were my companion in all my PvE adventures, when i examine him it said ''Looks like instnant death'', but now: ''Looks weak to you'', what the heck!!!
I almost was about to drop CH because of this, but i decided o give the profession one more chance as im going to explore Kashyyyk and see what tameable pets that planet has.[/quote:a81ef80d00]

Just went to the wook homeworld, and let's see, there are wook-banthas, wook-purboles, wook-gnorts...

1-gotta change my sig :D
2-disappointed by the purboles, banthas, gnorts on the wook homeworld
3-really disappointed by the same thing another poster said about animals in regards to what they looked like. I used to absolutely LOVE seeing my gurreck out, and clicking on him, and seeing 'Looks Like Instant Death to You.' I Loved that. Now, it reads, 'Will put up a decent fight against chubas, and that is about it.'

Seriously, though, I loved it before the CU. Overall, I like the CU, lots of good things have come out of it, but as a profession, I just could not take seeing my once beloved creatures in the state they are in. Once again, BE creatures will dominate the scene. I had two BE rancors that converted to AWESOME stats, HAM around 12k, dam of 610-640, I think they even have post CU armor.

It has been a fun time as a CH, great community, but time to move on to other professions.

Your lucky with the BE pets. Every single pet I had needed to be converted either by level or by stats. I did one by stats (balance level based on stats) and it ended up level 235..... the rest I did by level, they are all just the same stats as a wild creature of the same level now. They used to be 10k HAM 60% kinetic and armor.

your be pets SHOULD keep armor if you converted them by stats. most of mine did. I think they averaged out to about 3400 for CU armor. Forget what that translates to CU terms actual protection terms.
