Dear(s),
I was convinced that the pet level used influenced the CH xp gained during combat .... untill yesterday.
In a sharnaff group, i was using a level 15 BE pet just to get the XP as the group didnt really need him. I was getting roughly 450 CH xp per bull narf
The group kinda split and the TKA left. So i decided to take my growing level 26 BE Rancor to make the tanking. This level 26 pet gave me whooping 600+ CH xp per bull narf
Was this a planned change with the patch (it would mean the more damage done or beating taken by the pet would influence the xp gained?) ?
Thanx

pet level & XP
You say 'growing' rancor pet... what level is he currently at? If 26 is the final level and he is below 13 he will fight at that level. And since 13 is below the 15 of the earlier pet I would expect this.
Any pet that is growing uses either it current level or 1/2 of its max level, whichever is higher. And this is a change that was put in the last pub. It used to use the current level no matter what so a level 5 (smallest) rancor was an XP goldmine, since you could kill most things before they could kill it.
And even small pets can be used to mine XP when in a group. All it takes is one hit by the pet, so one way to optimize XP gain is to get to Management 3 (two pets out) and use a large pet, send it in first, send in a small pet, give it time to get damage then call it off and finish the mob.

That is because there is not a straight linear curve to getting CH xp. Using a CL 10 against a CL 50 will net you less experience than a CL 35 against a CL 50.
You have to find the sweet spot in the range to get the best xp, which might very well change as your targets' CL increases.
As a rough guide, try 10 levels below the target, then adjust up or down a few CL if you have a suitable pet.

'nother test
yesterday vs savage quenkers (level 27) on dant
With Rancor pet level 38 fully grown (BE pet) : 1 CH xp / kill :D (he just stomps on them like if they were nothing)
With Kwi pet level 13 fully grown (BE pet) : around 200 CH xp / kill
I'll get myself a level 25 ish pet (close to target level) and see if it gets better or not. 1xp is nothing, 200 xp isnt much considering i had to heal the low level pet all the time

This isn't what I've found so far. It seems to be the case that you gain 200 XP +/- 20 XP per difference in CL for a full-grown pet, in most cases. A pet which is not full-grown seems to give 130 +/- 13, with an effective CL of half the full-grown size. For some reason, rock beetles seem to follow this pattern as well. For example, I recorded a Desert Eopie (CL16) as receiving 260 XP against a Shallow Torton (CL19), 400 XP against a Gaping Spider (CL26), and 480 XP against a Voritor Dasher (CL30). I have no information about XP caps as of yet.
I think i had the xp cap with my mountain dewback(s).. maybe, it was strange.
scenario:
a) monty (the dewie) lvl 12(20) .
- target: mountain worrt
- grouped: yes
- examine showed: \"appears to be instant death\"
b) we defeated it, and i got only 120 xp of ch, i did it all day but never got more..
on the next day:
- monty had grow 6 more levels: 18(20)
- Same scenario, same target, grouped.
- After the kill, i got 230 xp.
On the NEXT day .. monty was adult, i thought i wont be getting much xp but ..
- same target, grouped again but this time i get 220 of ch xp . I think thats somewhat strange.
And how about this, i tamed a gaping spider. Used him on the next day, he was still under lvl 10.
- target: valarian enforcers.
- examine: appears to be even match and yes, we were grouped.
- result: i got only 1xp of ch :P
ps. with adult mountain dewie same targets gave 80 xp.
Theres been more strange stuff happening when comparing animal pet vs insect pets, for example dewie vs dalyrake harvester against the same targets, sometimes less with dewie or more than with dalyrake harvester.

I did general testing on this while grind ch in geo caves .. stats of pets also affect how much exp you get more ham more reisit's less exp they've tweaked it so weaker pets get more exp.. but for some reason a natural mountion dewwie seems to be in a Sweet spot lol you can earn good exp off anything with him
