For all the CH without Master Scout....

How can you tell what CL something is? You have to have Master Scout to tell by examining it...I guess you could remember most of them, but only after you look them up on a site or ask someone. I'm really just trying to figure out if I would be ok if i dropped master scout

I mastered scout then dropped it immediately. Why do you need to know what CL a creature is? If I was interested in taming it, I gave it a go. If I couldn't, I knew it was beyond my range.

Beyond taming, CL really doesn't matter much. I always use /examine and look at the creatures stats. I don't think the CL gives a really accurate picture of a creatures strength. For example...Ancient Bull Rancor's are level 98, but I know that if I use my Acid Rifle and a pet, they don't stand a chance...dead in about 30 sec because they don't have resists to Acid.

Anyway, I would suggest dropping master because it doesn't add much and those points can be used much more efficiently somewhere else.

I had posted elsewhere that I progressed through CH by using this site. When I got novice, I 'advance searched' everything that had babies, non-aggro, CL12 and below, put the results into descending order of HAM and/or kinetic resists. I have a note pad and a lot of pencils and I actually wrote down the top 10 or 20, along with possible locations of those that I was most interested in.

As I trained each new box, I'd come back and 'advance search' my new level. It was like Christmas morning everytime I rolled up a new list and saw that I could now tame this or that creature. And the hunt was on... :)

(psst... I used Warrote's method a lot too if I came across a baby that I was unfamiliar with, figuring it was worth a try. Very few babies got past me unscathed in my leveling up days LOL)

yeah, but Zurl, i HATE having to alt tab and search for something :D and i just like to be able to see what CL something is, especially when other handlers have their pets out, and i can look and see what CL it is so i know if i should go hunting for one :) It also gives an idea of how high level CH they are

Get a second screen and it gets a fair bit easier :)
I got the site up while playing, and theres always times when you can tab over to the browser to poke about while playing.. Like when you got your pets properly on that single mob and queued up whatever specials you want :)

I got Ranger believing that tracking would be a wonderful aid for a CH. It would have if the game wasnt so buggy, most of the time I can only track what I already have in visual range.. So gonna drop Ranger, and master CH soon. As well as the Trapping and Survival trees (btw, why do they call them trees, they dont branch :)) so I got more skill points to spend on more useful stuff. Like pushing Carbines up to +100 speed or thereabouts.

I have 2 monitor setup going at 1600x1200 on both sides, but I also run SWG in window mode so that things like copy/paste is easy to do. Of course framerates drop, but its still playable and its not like I'm playing FPS

If you see another CH with a pet and you want to know the CL, couldn't you just ask them? You can see it in your datapad once you tame it.

what do u mean 2 screens? and i guess i could ask them, but then there are always those snotty stuck up people who laugh at any question theyre asked....oh well. If i'm goin BE i guess i have to drop master scout :( and Tracking IV, which isnt very buggy for me. i can track anything about 650m away from me, so its pretty helpful

As in 2 monitors. Depending on your graphics card you might be able to plug in 2 monitors at once, and use both in windows. Going fullscreen tends to mess things up but windowed mode usually isnt so terribly much slower, and in MMORPGs it really doesnt matter as long as you have better than 5-10 fps (10fps works, you get used to the low fps after a while, I did that with an older machine before).
