Aggro/Non-Aggro taming question (Newbie)

Hi all, this site has been a great resource for me and I thank Juntao for keeping the site nice and up to date.

I am a newbie CH (just made it to 1-1-1-1). I am trying to tame some aggressive creatures (red) and I have failed most of the time. I was able to tame [color=red:c7ecc1c75f]Male Swamp Tusk Cats[/color:c7ecc1c75f]<level 17>, but failed to tame (it said \"you can't tame this creature\") [color=red:c7ecc1c75f]Huurtons[/color:c7ecc1c75f]<level 18>, [color=red:c7ecc1c75f]Giant Carrion Spats[/color:c7ecc1c75f]<level 18>, and [color=red:c7ecc1c75f]Perlek Scavengers[/color:c7ecc1c75f]<level 15>. At 1-1-1-1, my max creture level is 20 and those creatures are all below level 20...

I would appreciate it if someone can shed a light for the matter for me :)

until you get at least 2/0/0/0 you cant tame anything thats name is in red, unless your a wookiee, of which i am not :(

That's what I thought. Now I know why we have \"tame vicous creture\" as a skill. Weird thing is that I was able to tame three Male Swamp Tusk Cats <level 17> a couple of days ago! I guess I got lucky then because I was unable to tame a Female Swamp Tusk cat which is level 16 today...

and since im not logged in, I could try and put all that stuff about proffesions down here, but i think i wont waste my time, though in the time that i typed all this, i could have put in my proffesions and gotten off already, wow, what a turn of events.

Yes their names are in red. At least I know that they are red dots on the radar.

I am not sure why I was able to tame them. It was one of the random lair that popped up right by my house. BTW its East of Moenia very close to the Narglatch cave. If it was some kind of a bug, I am not complaining as I still have 3 of those kitties in my datapad! :)

Lastnight i got to 4-4-1-4 CH, max pet lvl50.
So off i run to endor to find somehting interesting...

Arcane Webmaster baby! Yay!! <hops about with joy> what a find on my first time of looking and within 30mins or heading out. So mask scent, glub some Jawa beer and in i go (3 adults about i did'nt fancy playing with).

30-45mins later i give up after failing to tame the baby over and over, having to run off about 5-6 times and returning due to it agroing me. Must have tried about 30 odd times in total with no luck :(

Anyone help me here, why could'nt i tame this baby? Do I need BE enchanced clothes for this lvl pet?

If you look at your skills, you will see your +tame vicious creatures is around 35 (from memory). At master it would be +50 and then not a simple tame. Webmasters are aggressive, so they use this skill modifier when you try to tame them.

Because of this, you have a [i:8959ac6451]very[/i:8959ac6451] low chance of taming one successfully. BE clothes would improve your chances significantly, but remember that modifiers over +25 will not count.

I might be experiencing something similar, but I am not sure. I am 3-4-3-4 CH with a Max Creature Level of +50, so I went to tame a Rancor. I made sure I had room in my datapad and finally found a baby Rancor, but it says \"You cannot tame that\" anytime I attempt /tame. What other stats/skills do I need to look at that effect what I can tame?

Your +tame vicious is not high enough for a Rancor. Getting level 4 of Taming should give you enough.

Alternately you can get some taming clothes up to +25. At that level it should give you enough to be able to tame a Rancor, and with a slightly higher chance than with the Taming 4 bonus. Even as a master I wear a set of these to make taming more easy.

Similarly, BE clothes will let you tame aggressive creatures before you have 2-x-x-x. You are still limited to your max CL though.
