Has anyone been able to confirm that these actually work?

They can make a huge difference in the number of tries it takes to tame a creature, incidently reducing the risk of being attacked.
You are still limited to your +max CL, and the maximum bonus these clothes can give you is +25 (regardless of what your skill box says).

Taming clothes will have a listing:

Taming Vicious Creatures: 13
Taming Wild Creatures: 13
Or something similar.

BE Clothing is an awesome advantage when taming in the field. Aggro creatures and creatures near your max taming level can be tamed with relative simplicity, and training seems to go faster too.
