How do I age a pet or is it automatic? Do I need to train it? Have it follow me forever or what?

Ah, one of the questions of the ages. :)

If you sift through these forums enough, you'll undoubtedly find other thread concerning creature growth. There are some theories, founded or unfounded. Basically, though, the answer is yes. Creatures grow on their own, over time.

Whether you can affect the amount of time that it takes for a creature to mature is debatable. Feeding it, petting it, fighting with it, calling it out once a day, never calling it out at all... these are all methods that have been tried and scrutinized.

Do they work? I don't know. I've never found a secret trick to create any noticible difference. Try them for yourself and find out if they work for you :)

Pets get hungry when they have health/action wounds (black bar).

You feed them, then black bar is gone and your pets tummy is happy :D

I've been noticing the {hungry} stuff a lot more lately myself. Usually if they're hurt like Nyter said, but sometimes I get the message 2 or 3 times in a matter of just 5 minutes. Good thing I know an aspiring chef who loves to dump her burnt cookies on me :)

I was fairly surprised the first time I got that, I thought it had been removed as Ive had low level pets having *lots* of wounds from disease without complaining. This was a L40 pet I was using and it was barely wounded at all, I had been having it fighting nonstop for quite a while though (~70% effective kinetic armor) so guess time + wound maybe..

I berated him a bit for not taking a good bite on the animals we had been fighting but relented and gave him some veggies I foraged..

Aww, poor thing :( I'm sure he was trying his best... He might bite better is you have his fangs sharpened? LOL

Man, are we good at getting completely off topic, or what?
