Im a trandoshan , i dont get any bonuses for being a CH . (just a backgroud information). I just bought a BE'd Graul which is lvl 64 . And yes, im a Master CH (yay).
So anyways, i tried to tame it, and \"you lack the skill to tame this creature\" so i was like . \"doh. another broken pet.\", but i went to my bank and used my \"hot pants\" which has 24+ to wild / vicious skills. And WHAM! i tamed it :). I think that was wierd.. or strange at least.

wierd discovery..
And lets add more to this.. I can call it without wearing the BE-Cloth. (for now at least we will see after couple of days). I had second character sometime ago, he was a novice BE only. I could \"tame\" lvl 12 (wierd huh?) BE-Pets that i made myself but i couldnt call it which is normal..
These two are somewhat similar situations, if my current character would be lacking high enough [b:746c361311]wild / vicious / max level of pet[/b:746c361311] skill levels, for the BE Graul i think i shouldn't be able to call it out. Im just throwing a bone, but i'll know for sure later.
I have no idea which skills are checked when you are calling a pet from your datapad, perhaps its just max level of pet? if taming a pet really checks all the 3 skills.
Edit:
Actually i have a proof that all the 3 skills are checked when you are taming pets, two days ago i bought BE Rancor just for fun.. heh. Anyway, it was at level 52, my max level of pet was at 55. But when i was taming it \"you lack the skill to tame this creature\" popped up too, then i Mastered CH and i was instantly able to tame it .

This bug was quite common when the current system was implemented in December.
When that pet reaches full grown, you will need the clothes to call it.
You will always be limited by your maximum pet levels. That is a solid upper cap.
A rough estimate on the soft cap is your relavent skill +13 CL on whether you can call or tame something.
Since Tame Wild is spread throughout the entire tree, you won't often see non-aggressive pets giving you such a message. Aggressive creatures only use the Tame Vicious, which is also significantly lower at master, that you will find you cannot tame to your Max Pet Level unless you wear clothes.
At master, that soft cap happens to be at CL 63, so you missed it by one.

I reckon you are right about that :). That just made me uum think about Bull Rancors which are at 65 CL . I think that just explains why they are so hard to tame without BE cloths, almost hard even but.. umm, why can we call them out without wearing the BE cloth? . I would expect that CL 65 bull rancor would have even higher Vicious value then the BE- Graul.
I might be answering my own question but maybe Real-Pets have been adjusted that MCH's can control them without bonuses, but that just makes high level BE pets look \"bad\" because the requirement is only said by CL, wild or vicious isnt mentioned at all (it should be though).
I think my DNA samples didn't mention about wild / vicious values either..
